Before voting, read each piece of legislation carefully and
evaluate its merits.
Set Priorities.  Identify what is important to you and your
constituents.
e-Legislators may spend no more than ninety (90) minutes
voting on legislation on the House Floor.
E-Legislators must vote as INDIVIDUALS for each bill
presented on the House Floor.   You may choose from the following legislative actions.
VOTE
DESCRIPTION
YEA
A "yea" vote indicates you support the legislation and vote for it to become law.
NAY
A "nay" vote indicates that you do not support the Legislation and you do not want it to become law.
Abstain
This choice indicates that you are present, but not voting to support or oppose the legislation

Given the volume of bills on the House Floor, you may not be
able to review all of them.  Any bills you do not cast a vote for
will be tallied as an abstain.  (Don't be alarmed by the volume of
bills to review on the House Floor. Representatives are always
confronted with a large number to evaluate. In the last session of
Congress 9,000 bills were introduced, but fewer than ten percent
became law.
Consider the budget restrictions placed on the House Floor.
  1. House Floor Budget = $500 billion dollars
  2. Legislators may pass bills that exceed this budget allocation, but they should understand the implications of that decision. This practice is called deficit spending.
