A child of the Baby Boom and an Army Brat, I was raised on a steady diet of television and movies. In the '70s the musical adventures of Todd Rundgren possessed my being and still heavily pollute my attitude and outlook. The pinnacle of that "relationship" came in 1992 when my art was selected by my hero for use on Todd's Utopia Redux tour (see below).

The art of Neal Adams and graphic novels remain strong calls to my attention. I sought education in what would now be called Graphics Design. It didn't exist yet, so I took business courses at Georgia Southern College (now GSU) and soon discovered a knack for programming. For a few years Systems Analyst Land beckoned, yet the corporate path held no sustainable interest and I had other things on my mind.

Later the worlds of art and computers collided with the creation of the Macintosh, and it was clear where I would find my final rest. The past 25 years I have pursued many avenues toward fulfillment of the dream of creation without starvation. I did software and computer training for Apple. Provided management and typography for a print franchise.
From the late '80s and into the '90s I was a freelance designer and home dad until my children settled into school. The market shifted, and I switched gears to discover the remarkable realm of State employment at UVA. The switch to PCs proved less difficult than imagined and now I'm platform ambidextrous. As well adjusted to that environment as I became in 7+ years, the private sector made me an offer I could not refuse.

Promise holds no guarantee, however, and the dream job soon turned to something less desireable. The proverbial windowed which opened when that door shut pointed east to Richmond where I currently spend my days web designing for Capital One. The corporate path I'd avoided for so long is not the cold death once imagined.

My appreciation for material things persists, although I continue to explore the idea that I am not my job. My ambition remains to create more visual and personal reflections. Illustration for hire is welcome.
